The Holloway family wasn't your typical American family. A simple mixture of Romani and Italian, Grayson's childhood was filled with superstitions and wariness of others. As a child, he didn't have many friends and the friends he did have were just as strange as he was considered. He mostly relied on the company of his younger siblings to sate the need to make connections with others and for a time, that was okay with him. He loved his siblings, he took care of them and protected them, just as he was taught to, but as he grew older and those typical young urges began to arise within him, he yearned for more than the friendship within his own blood.

Grayson grew into his own during his youth with some influence of his grandfather - a wise cracking, mildly racist, con-man - who taught him how to defend himself and to take what God did not give him; Especially if what he was taking belonged to someone else. Luckily for him, the few times he was caught, he found that his naturally doe-eyed expression worked wonders in gaining pity from his marks and rather than be brought to the police station, they took what was theirs and let bygones be bygones. Not without a stern talking to, of course.

Over time, Grayson grew more confident in his skills and would often pick up menial tasks for his family to earn them some pocket cash whilst maintaining an above average GPA and part-time job. Being the pride of the Holloway family meant a lot to Grayson, but it wasn't until his grandfather passed away did Grayson begin to realize that this wasn't the life that he really wanted to lead; that he wanted to make an honest living. Quite possibly a first for the Holloway family.

Thus began Grayson's estrangement from his family. The day that Grayson turned 18, he packed up what little belongings he had and moved out. For a few months he couch surfed from friend to friend until he could find a place of his own. A place of his own being a loose term as he lived in an apartment with four others. Every month he paid his dues as an honest man while putting some aside in his savings. Not too long after, he earned enough money to get his EMT license. It seemed far from where, if you were to ask him only a few years ago, his life would lead him, but he felt good about this decision; he felt right. And if his grandfather taught him anything, it was to go with his gut.

There was nothing that could beat the rush of getting his first call from dispatch as he and his partner sat in the common room of the station, mouthing off to one another about who got the better lay the night before. In a moment's notice, all joking was set aside and Grayson was on his feet. It was the first time he had seen such a bloodied victim so close up and without the guise of acting. But much to his surprise, he handled himself like a pro.

It's been several years since Grayson had started his work as an EMT, giving himself a year to two years in the field before approaching the next level. He flew through his Intermediate work and eventually became a Paramedic. He was then hired by the FDNY EMS Station 35 after opening in late 2013, and has been working there ever since.
